I work in a sushi stand and whatever we don’t sell we put into a fridge for workers to eat. Whatever they don’t eat we have to throw away the next day.

Have your boss/manager look into the app called “Too Good To go”. It could be a solution to this

Aw dang… But uh. How do I get hired there? You’ll never have to worry about waste again, that’s for sure! 😂

That’s a shame
becominganastronaut
a couple hundred dollars at sale, but in terms of actual cost, we are not looking at much tbh
MrEmorse
But why?

Are you the owner? Create a too good to go account. Helps sell and less waste for the earth.
CarcosaRorschach
If I worked there, none of that would be tossed.

Why the fuck aren’t you guys stepping up? Give me a gallon of milk and I’d demolish that

Hello. I’m the garbage
Leftturn0619
That’s nothing compared to what grocery stores waste. They throw away thousands every day. Such a shame.

What a tragedy!!!

I know it’s not manager approved but I’d box up non picked up food and place it outside for the homeless and hungry. Granted sushi doesn’t hold well but I’m sure someone would want it.
Sad day for those rolls.

What a shame I’d love to have some sushi right now.

Soooo why don’t you take it home???
HeadyChefin
Why are you pre-prepping sushi? That’s more concerning to me. Owner’s choice, or staff’s? Do you work at a supermarket? That’s the only reason I could see doing this much food waste.
Extra_Water_3313
I really don’t know what you are complaining about. They sell fresh. They give left overs to workers for free. These are sushi. Not jerky. Keeping it for any longer would be trying to poison people not to mention violation of a few department of labor laws.
Also the mark up on sushi is huge prob cost less than 50 as far as raw ingredient goes
Excision_Lurk
I work at a huge resort and the food waste is sad af. Can’t donate it because of lawsuits and what not.

That’s just bad stock management. After staff pickings there should be minimal waste, I could understand if staff didn’t get access but shit that’s is just money down the drain. Also just wasting produce like that is crazy.
If you have one of those programs/apps in your area where food can be picked up after hours, do that
pinkdumpsterjuice
If nobody ate it, tale it to the homeless maybe?
SteamySpectacles
Businesses in my city use Too Good To Go to recoup some waste/losses
porp_crawl
You need to let the local homeless grapevine know what time you close so “unexpensed 3rd party contractors” can handle this business waste issue for you.

Take a page from Japanese convenience stores. When that shit is getting on to the end of its lifespan discount the shit out of it.
Goatmanlafferty
Offer free samples…you’d be surprised how many extra sales you get. Also if it’s closer to the end of the night, give a little extra or charge a little less. No reason to throw out so much.
SubBass49Tees
Hook up some homeless folks next time. You’d make their entire day.
